A ride with a mate

I'm not taking many photos at the moment since I've been using a little video camera to try and make a short film on the points of interest on the Welsh Coast2Coast and "The Hobbits Tale."

Unfortunately my camera work is shocking, and the final product will look more than a little "Blair Witch"...

...If I'm lucky.

The week's recce that I have been doing during this "filming" (loose term) has brought up a few interesting points:

1. The bog of death has been drained and is now 99% rideable. This really enhances the route, as the two rivers seem to have been dug out and bridges built over them. It was horrible beforehand.

2. The Bridleway at Brecon is 100% rideable, if a little slippy.

3. A new sign has been erected by "The Arch" forestry section. It's next to a little pseudo quarry and tells you that you can't go any further. Luckily there is only about 50m between the start of the "quarry" and the finish, and there is a footpath that you can carry the bike around on. Permission will be easy to get for the firetrack though, as there is no quarry, and no works. It's just a small pile of rubble by the side of the firetrack.

On Easter Sunday Rich Holmes (the next WC2C soloist) and I went for a ride from Brecon to just above Llynn Brianne and back again. Of course, we followed the WC2C route in both directions.

It was a great day out and it was nice to ride with someone who had a similar endurance pace to my own. We chatted, rode, got excited and a bit quick; and then started telling each other to slow down as the excitement passed each time.

The weather was cold, windy, sunny and with blue skies. The ground was sopping wet and we were riding through slush just above Llynn Brianne.

Marvellous!
